The Big Idea
The brain's right hemisphere attends to the world as a living, interconnected whole, while the left hemisphere breaks reality into static, manageable parts to manipulate it. The book argues that Western history reflects a profound imbalance in which the left hemisphere's style of attention has increasingly displaced its master. This matters because an unchecked analytical worldview creates a mechanical, disconnected society that prioritizes utility and control at the cost of presence, intuition, and authentic human fulfillment.
